Dhaba Style Chicken

Ingredients :

  • Chicken ( with bone) – 750 gms
  • Curd – 1 tbsp
  • Tomato  – 2  small
  • Onion – 2 large
  • Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Jeera / Cumin powder – 1 tsp
  • Dhania/ Coriander  powder – 2 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder – 1  tsp
  • Mutton Masala – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Dry Fenugreek leaves/ Kasuri Methi – ½ tsp
  • Ginger – 1 tsp ( julienne)
  • Green Chilli – 4 ( slit in long)
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste

How I do it :

Marinate the chicken with curd turmeric powder and salt. Meanwhile, heat  1 tbsp oil in a kadal/wok.Add Chopped Tomatoes. Ginger garlic paste and little salt to this.Cook the tomatoes till it becomes tender

As soon as the tomatoes are easy to mash, cool them to room temperature  and then grind to paste. Now add 2 tbsp oil to Kadai.Chop the onions and add them. Stir till light brown

Add the chickens ,tomatoes,  Potatoes , Jeera powder, coriander powder , red chilli powder and remaining salt .Stir occasionally.After about 5 minutes, add half of the coriander leaves

Followed by the tomato paste.Now add the mutton masala and stir well.Cover and cook in low flame till the chicken is done.Insert a fork and check if it cuts easily to check if its done.

In another small wok, heat 1 tsp oil and add Ginger julienne and Slit green chillies. Cook it for 5 seconds and remove from fire and add to the gravy.Garnish with Coriander leaves and Crushed Fenugreek leaves

Serve hot with Steamed rice or Paratha

Special Information :

The cooking time of chicken depends on its quality. If you do not have homemade mutton masala, you can use ½ tsp of the Garam masala available in the market. Store in airtight containers in the Fridge for better shelf life.
